Discover Her Story
Lee Ying Shi (李莹诗) is one of Brunei's most decorated martial artists — a master of Wushu, blending the explosive power of Changquan, the flowing blade of Daoshu, and the synchronised artistry of Duilian.
Of Chinese descent, she first picked up wushu as a co-curricular activity at Chung Hwa Middle School in Bandar Seri Begawan — training alongside her sister and brother. Standing just 155 cm, she turned precision and discipline into a decade on the international podium, most often beside her partner Faustina Woo.
From the junior podiums of Macau and Shanghai to the roar of the SEA Games, she carried her nation's flag across Asia — earning a place among the "50 Bruneian Women Who Shape Our Future." In 2016 she retired to study, graduating from Universiti Brunei Darussalam with a Business degree in 2020.
Every champion is built from a double helix of their own — strands of Power and Grace, bound together by years of discipline. Each rung in her helix is a medal earned on the world stage.

Expansive, athletic and explosive — sweeping kicks, leaping spins and lightning hand strikes that demand total command of the body in flight.
The art of the single-edged blade. Ferocious, fluid forms where the sabre becomes an extension of the body, wrapping the waist and slicing the air.
Choreographed combat between partners — split-second timing and absolute trust. Her signature event, and the source of her finest medals.
